Mystery of Murder Mountain

“Well, how was your walk through the woods?” asked Hank,
sarcastically.  “Mom and dad were worried about you,”
Julie , not wanting to admit that she had made a wrong decision, said that she enjoyed her hike.
That evening at the dinner table, Hank asked his family if they had heard about the pack of wild dogs running around Murder Mountain?  Julie glanced at Hank as he was talking.
“Yea, ya know?” said Hank.  “I heard it at the Village store.  Someone was sayin’ that the pack was formed from strays and they hide deep in the woods during the daytime and roam at night around the cottages and dig into the trash for food.  Did you see’em Julie?”
“Ah, ah, no,” said Julie hesitantly.  “I didn’t see anything at all.  I had quite an uneventful hike.”
But Julie pondered the thought for a long time.  Was it really wild dogs or really old Jake?  What about that scream? Julie decided that Murder Mountain would always be a mystery to her.
