Grandpa pulled up the anchor and they headed
back. All the time Stephen just kept looking at his fish and talking
to him.
“I’m going to call him Mr. Wiggly. Cause he wiggles a
lot.”
Grandpa smiled. He parked the boat at the dock and Stephen was scrambling to
get the pail with Mr. Wiggly in it and show him to his momma and daddy.
Stephen hollered up to the deck where his parents were
sitting, “Mom and dad, look what I caught. Come and see him, quick!”
Stephen’s mom said, “Wait a minute, Stephen, I’ll get
the camera. I want to take your picture with it.”
Mom hurried into the house. Soon, Stephen saw his mom,
dad and his grandma coming down to the dock to see his big fish. He
looked so proud. Meanwhile grandpa attached Mr. Wiggly back onto
Stephen’s line so he could hold him up for the picture.
“Now, Stephen, hold the fish up so we can take the picture.” said
mom.
“The fishy’s name is Mr. Wiggly.” said Stephen.
Several pictures of Mr. Wiggly, and Stephen were taken.
Grandpa said that Stephen now must put Mr. Wiggly back into the lake.
Stephen looked shocked and said, “Oh no, grandpa, he’s
my pet. I’m not letting him go.”
“No, Stephen. You have to let him go. He’s
just a fish and he won’t live very long if you don’t let him go.” said
grandpa.
“But grandpa, he’s not just a fish, he’s Mr. Wiggly.
I love Mr. Wiggly. I want to keep him.” said Stephen tearfully.
