Mr. Wiggly gets a Friend

Stephen threw his line into the water, but he couldn’t wait for a fish to bite.  He kept pulling the line up and down before the fish had a chance to bite.
“I can’t catch a fish grandpa, they don’t bite my hook.”
“You’re not giving them a chance, Stephen.  You have to be more patient.  Leave your line in the water longer.” said grandpa.
But Stephen just couldn’t be patient.  So grandpa decided to put a ‘bobber’ on his line.
“Now, Stephen, all you have to do is sit and watch the ‘bobber’. When it bobbles or disappears in the water, you pull up on the line as fast as you can, ok?“ said grandpa.
     “Ok”, agreed Stephen.
So Stephen gripped his pole with both hands and sat and stared at the ‘bobber’ for a long time - a long time for Stephen.  Finally, he looked over at grandpa and said,” How many fish are there in the lake, Grandpa?”
Grandpa looked amused and said, “Oh hundreds, probably thousands, Stephen.”
“How come they don’t want my hook?”
“They will, Stephen, just keep watching the ‘bobber’. One will bite pretty soon now.”
Stephen, again, looked intently at his ‘bobber’.
Just then Grandpa pulled in a little fish with his pole.
“Hey, see there Stephen, now their starting to come.  I got a little fella - we’ll send him back to his momma and daddy.”
