The sun now seemed to be lower in the sky. Billy
and Abby saw , and heard, a big black dog barking at them along the shore.
The noise of cars was louder, and a roaring sound of water could be heard.
Billy could see more rocks up ahead, and could see that their boat was
heading right for them.
“Ok, now really hang on tight Abby,” yelled Billy.
“I am,” cried Abby. “We’re gonna tip over, Billy.”
“No, we’re not, look Abby, when the boat tips to one
side, we need to sit more on the opposite side. So that’s how we ride the
waves. Just do as I say. We’ll be ok.”
But Billy wasn’t all that sure of what he was doing. He
just kept hoping and praying that the big falls wasn’t around the next bend
in the river.
The boat crashed into the rocks and started to tip
over.
“Now, Abby,” yelled Billy. “Sit on the other side.
Quick! Hold on tight.”
Abby obeyed her big brother. She started screaming as
the boat started turning around against the rocks.
“Billy, help!”
“Just hang on.”
Abby almost fell out of the boat as it crashed into
another set of rocks.
Billy screamed, “Abby, hang on tighter!”
