A Frog Hunting Adventure

“Don’t worry, Abby. We’ll be alright. Just sit down in the bottom of the boat. We’ll be ok. The boat won’t tip over.”
Abby followed her big brother’s instruction and sat down in the boat. She was hanging onto both sides of the boat as hard as she could. Billy remained sitting on the boat seat. He sat wondering what to do next. He couldn’t grab anything, as the boat was gliding rapidly down the river.
“Billy we’re getting further and further away from our house.” Yelled Abby.
“Yeah, I know, relax, we’ll be ok.”
But Billy didn’t feel relaxed. He was starting to feel anxious. The river had now broadened out, and the boat seemed to be going faster. The water was splashing over some huge rocks in the center of the river and Billy was afraid the boat would tip over if it hit one of the rocks. Abby really looked scared now. Billy noticed her lower lip starting to quiver.
“Now, look, Abby, we’re gonna be ok. It’s not helping if your gonna cry like a baby.”
“But the water looks deep now Billy. We don’t have our preservers on. Mom and dad will be mad at us.”
“We can’t help it, Abby. We didn’t know the boat was gonna break loose from shore,” said Billy. Billy didn’t tell Abby, but he remembered his dad talking about a big falls somewhere near Big Rapids. But that’s probably way far away yet, thought Billy.
