It was vacation time for the Harrington family. They
always spent some of their summers at their cottage on the Timpkin river at
Twin Oaks junction.
One sunny, hot morning in July, Billy asked his sister Abby
if she wanted to go frog hunting with him down by the river.
“Yea, lets go,” said Abby as she put down her crayons
and paper.
“Let’s check with mom and dad first,” said Billy.
“Ok”
Billy called out to his mom, “Mom, mom, where are you? Mom?”
Mom was outside the cabin picking wild flowers
alongside the path that lead to the river.
“I’m outside Billy. What do you want?” said mom.
“Abby and I want to go frog huntin down by the river.
Ok?” yelled
Billy.
"Alright” said mom. “But be careful and watch Abby so
she doesn't get her feet wet. She’s got new sneakers on. Don't be gone very
long.
Your dad and I want to go into town and get some groceries and you both have
to come along.”
